Sprenkels American Bulldogs
We got our first American Bulldog, Oliver (RIP), twelve years ago. This is when we fell in love with the breed and decided we would never own anything other. Without much guidance we quickly learned what worked, what didn’t and had many frustrations along the way that we can now look back on and laugh about! One of the most memorable is having a brand new couch, a teenage American Bulldog and not believing in crate training, to come home to a couch (or what was left) destroyed to the frame. I seem to have at least one puppy owner each litter that defies my crate training advice and has come home to the same horror!
We have slowly started to add more dogs to our pack, while holding back puppies from our own breeding. When we breed two dogs together our goal is to produce structurally correct dogs, with great conformation, a longer nose for clean breathing that can withstand heat and athletic ability to do just about anything (this is a working breed after all!). We want dogs that are temperamentally sound, willing to please and have an “off” switch when in the house.
I have dedicated a large part of my life learning the breed and everything that comes with it. Knowledge does not come over night so we try to share everything we know and are constantly learning ourselves. Although our dogs are first and foremost our pets, I treat all our breeding’s and puppy sales as a business, in a professional manner. New information, health testing, studies are constantly emerging and I try to stay as up to date with information as possible. I have invested thousands of hours networking with other breeders, trainers, health professionals and studying the breed/large breeds in general. I have invest thousands of dollars importing our dogs, health testing, genetic testing, DNA testing and hip/elbow certification. We want to know what is best for our dogs to provide them and anything we produce a happy, healthy and long life! We intend to be around for a long time so when we breed two dogs together we want something that will produce something special that will continue and add quality to our line of dogs. We strongly believe that breeders need to be held accountable for what they produce and should be a wealth of knowledge and guidance for their puppy owners.
Sprenkels American Bulldogs is a small home-based registered breeder located in the Fraser Valley, BC, Canada (An hour east of Vancouver). Along with raising, training, loving and showing dogs, I also work full-time and am a mother to an 12 year old daughter. Our dogs live in house and puppies are raised underfoot. We believe that well- tempered dogs that do well in a busy household will produce puppies with the same temperament. Our dogs are raised holistically, fed a raw meat diet and follow the limited vaccine protocol. No expense is spared when it comes to our dogs and puppies health and longevity.
Although all our puppies take a piece of our hearts as they leave on their new adventure, we trust that their new homes offer them a great life and keep us updated. We love to hear about our puppies and we measure our success on the feedback we receive. I can’t stress enough that I am available 24/7 365 days a year for any issue, concern, cute photo or update you want to share with me. If I don’t know the answer to your problem, I have a network of help I can call on. It is never a bother to hear from our own puppy owners or any other American Bulldog owner that needs advice.
